DFW Airport – IP RT Project

TxDOT selected LTRA to perform comprehensive Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services along the high-traffic SH 114 corridor east of DFW Airport. The project supported critical roadway improvements in a dense utility environment where accurate mapping was essential for design and construction. LTRA conducted extensive Quality Level B SUE investigations, vault mapping, and overhead utility mapping across the corridor. One of the project’s primary challenges was coordinating utility data for 13 different communication providers. Our team performed detailed records research, designated toneable utilities in the field, and developed precise CADD files to document over 137,000 linear feet of existing utilities. The result was a complete and verified set of signed and sealed utility plans that provided TxDOT with the clarity needed to advance this complex corridor project.

The North Houston Highway Improvement Project is a major infrastructure program aimed at improving mobility, safety, and connectivity along key sections of I-45, I-10, and US 59/I-69 in central Houston. LTRA provided Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services throughout multiple project segments, supporting the successful design and construction of this complex highway corridor. Our team conducted extensive utility investigations and mapping to help mitigate risk, minimize delays, and ensure safe delivery of the project. The effort required a comprehensive SUE approach that included 3D utility scanning, in-depth records research, and careful coordination with stakeholders. Throughout the project, LTRA worked to maintain existing traffic flow and public access while meeting the aggressive project schedule. Our contributions helped support the delivery of this high-profile transportation improvement for the region.
