LTRA was part of the Design Build team working in collaboration with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) to design the last section of the Orange line from Belt Line Rd to Terminal A Station, inside DFW International Airport. LTRA was responsible for the design of the Civil, Demolition, Drainage, and Utility Relocations for segment 3. Project scope included the design and reconstruction of a four-lane major arterial, North Airfield Drive, from west of Freeport Parkway to Grapevine Creek. LTRA developed paving and drainage designs, which included roadway geometrics, cross sections, and storm drain design. LTRA was also responsible for SUE on Sections 1 and 2 of the Orange Line through Irving, generating Level B SUE for water, wastewater, telephone, fiber optic cable, gas, pipelines, traffic signal, and electric utilities. LTRA worked closely with 19 different utility companies, municipalities and DART to develop a Utility Conflict Matrix that was eventually reduced to only 134 conflicts with the new location rail line through proactive coordination. LTRA supported the successful delivery of this significant regional transit project that has increased ridership on DART and spurred significant transit-oriented development around the new stations.
