SH 114 – $1.6B Major Freeway

LTRA was chosen by the TxDOT Paris District to lead the schematic design, environmental permitting, and public involvement for one of the largest highway expansion projects in NE Texas. LTRA split the IH 30 corridor into separate schematics with limits from FM 2642 to Monty Stratton (13 miles) and from Monty Stratton to FM 513 (12 miles). The objective of the IH 30 project was to improve safety, enhance mobility, and reduce traffic congestion on IH 30 and intersecting roadways. Numerous interchange reconstructions were designed with the project in conjunction with ramp reversals from diamond to X ramp configurations. Multiple innovative interchange alternatives were considered, including the Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) selected for the IH 30 – US 69 interchange. LTRA communicated with multiple key stakeholders to ensure key design issues were incorporated into the schematic.

LTRA is the prime consultant for this 38-mile schematic project for the TxDOT San Angelo District from the Concho County Line to Junction, TX. LTRA completed schematic design, environmental permitting, traffic analysis, and public involvement for the project. US 83 is a part of the “Ports to Forts” Corridor which will be designated as Interstate 14, a new multi-state interstate highway to connect major military bases in the southern US. The project was phased to widen the existing 2-lane rural highway to a 4-lane divided highway, with a typical section and roadway geometry that will accommodate future conversion of US 83 to a controlled access interstate. Interchange alternatives were considered for multiple rural interchange locations along US 83. LTRA engaged in extensive public involvement for the project, incorporating public feedback into the schematic process.

LTRA is leading the preliminary design for Loop 1604 for the TxDOT San Antonio District. The project includes developing the schematic design, environmental permitting, and public involvement from Military Dr to IH 35 on the southwest side of San Antonio. This portion of the Loop 1604 corridor is located along one of the fastest growing areas in San Antonio. For the section north of US 90, the project involves an expansion from a 4-lane rural section to a full 8-lane freeway section that will include 3-lane frontage roads. South of US 90, the schematic will accommodate widening the existing 2-lane section with an Interim project with considerations for future Ultimate conversion to a freeway typical section. The design will also include multilevel interchanges at both US 90 and IH 35.

LTRA was chosen by TxDOT Dallas District and Denton County to lead a major regional mobility and development project in North Texas by developing both the schematic and PS&E designs for FM 1385. This major project upgrades 12.1-miles of existing 2-lane rural roadway to a 6-lane divided urban typical section from US 380 in Prosper, TX to FM 455 in Pilot Point, TX. LTRA worked with various cities (Pilot Point, Prosper, Celina, Aubrey), Denton County, TxDOT, and multiple developers to accommodate a constantly changing environment in a rapidly developing sector of Denton County. LTRA identified and resolved conflicts with several major regional utilities by refining the roadway geometry, cutting months off the schedule and reducing utility relocation costs by several million dollars. LTRA divided the FM 1385 corridor into three separate construction packages to accommodate TxDOT funding constraints. The FM 1385 project will improve safety and reduce delays on an important regional arterial in Denton County.
