Southgate Plaza – $152M – Commercial Development

LTRA was chosen by the City of Dallas to lead feasibility, schematic, and PS&E design for this 0.7-mile, 4-lane undivided section through southeast Dallas, Texas. LTRA was tasked with developing several route alternatives and developing a schematic and construction drawings for the preferred alternative. The Wheatland project was a joint project with the City of Dallas leading the development process and TxDOT providing construction funding and letting Wheatland Rd as a local let project. LTRA collaborated with both the City of Dallas and TxDOT throughout the process to help facilitate the priorities of each entity. LTRA guided the City of Dallas through a challenging ROW acquisition process with proactive early engagement and communication with adjacent property owners to determine design preferences and minimize issues.

LTRA was chosen by the City of Dallas to lead a beautification and trail connection project for this 1,500 ft, 4-lane undivided section through the heart of Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. The project extended from Central Expressway to Greenville Ave through a fully developed retail area with a DART light rail crossing. LTRA was tasked with adding aesthetic features such as decorative medians and sidewalk, brick pavers in pavement and intersections, landscaping, and art features. LTRA ensured the design accommodated a “complete street” concept where the corridor was designed to utilize multi modal transportation (bikes, trail, street parking, and transit). LTRA coordinated with City of Dallas, TxDOT, and SMU to develop a design that improved mobility and safety with improved aesthetics. LTRA also coordinated with DART to connect the SMU Blvd project to the DART trail system servicing the adjacent light rail station.

LTRA was chosen by City of DeSoto to lead a regional mobility and development project in the DFW area involving the schematic and PS&E design for a 0.7-mile, 4-lane divided section of Danieldale Rd through DeSoto, Texas. The goal of the project was to provide a roadway facility that will accommodate expanding transportation demands while increasing operational efficiency. LTRA Worked together with City of Desoto, Dallas County, TxDOT, and adjacent developers to develop a transportation solution that best met the combined needs of the community. Danieldale was realigned at the Westmoreland Rd intersection to create a safer intersection configuration. LTRA improved pedestrian mobility with a sidewalk on the north side of the roadway and a pedestrian trail on the south side of Danieldale.

LTRA was chosen by the City of Dallas to lead multiple regional mobility and development projects across Dallas. One of the projects included the schematic and PS&E design to develop 0.5 miles of Camp Wisdom into a 4-lane divided section. LTRA coordinated with City of Dallas, TxDOT, and Dallas County in a regional effort to develop safety improvements at the FM 1382 intersection with Camp Wisdom. LTRA enhanced safety at FM 1382 with signalization and improved pedestrian and bicycle mobility with a dedicated paved trail. LTRA was able to develop roadway designs to salvage and maintain recent existing road improvements constructed by an adjacent development. The innovative design avoided significant roadway reconstruction, saving the City of Dallas several million dollars.
