DFW Connector: TxDOT Fort Worth

LTRA was a member of the NorthGate Constructors Design Build team working in collaboration with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to develop, design and reconstruct more than $1 billion worth of improvements as part of the DFW Connector. The eight-mile project rebuilt portions of four highways, two interchanges and five bridges. These improvements enhanced mobility and air quality through expanded roadway capacity, toll managed lanes and continuous frontage roads.

LTRA provided engineering support that consisted of preparation of traffic control plans, utility design, storm water pollution prevention plans (SW3P), and subsurface utility engineering (SUE). Using a design-build process, construction of the 8.4 mile initial phase of the ultimate 14.4 mile project, was expedited. Instead of eight to ten years, this project was complete by 2014. The DFW Connector included state highways 114 and 121 and adjacent roadways located north of the DFW Airport.
